Cycore, how much do you NEED to know before giving me that plugin??

Leaving our favourite HTML/JavaScript topics aside for a moment's bewilderment in the murky world of plugin installers..

Opera supports the Netscape plugin API. Opera can be installed on computers where Netscape is not installed and run any plugins that would work with Netscape 4.x. Opera goes to great lengths to be compatible with typical plugin installation routines by mirroring Netscape's folder structure, including a dummy "Netscape.exe" file and setting the

registry keys accordingly on computers where Netscape is not installed.

However, when a plugin installer wants to read out chunks of Netscape's program file before installing anything –

what CAN Opera do to be compatible? Nothing that makes even remote sense..
