Opera Notes extension

Playing with creating extensions for Opera 15, I tried to make one that would re-create the Opera 12 Notes UI and functionality.
https://files.myopera.com/hallvors/xtens/opera-notes-extension.zip

As this is not yet an officially submitted extension, you'll have to unzip it, enable developer mode in the Extensions overview screen and click the "Load unpacked extension" button to locate the folder and use it (thanks Rafael Luik). Paste your notes.adr contents in options page to import your data.

There are bugs. Feel free to report them here:
https://github.com/hallvors/opera-notes-extension
..or comment. Not sure how much time I'll be able to spend on it, but I'll try to solve some issues.

    Well done I think you're right, the file (on my system) seems to be "000031.log".

  2. Yes, it is there. in an @USB install it is inprofiledataLocal Extension Settings[string of cryptic characters]The notes' text is saved in the .sst file. Make sure you backup the whole folder contents because the other files might be needed too.

  3. found mine in the AppDataRoamingOpera SoftwareOpera StableLocal Extension Settingsit was in a folder entitled ciaogpdaflkjhmajaeehpabppmnmaiemjust in case anyone else was searching for it.

    Yes I copied all the files in the Local Extension Settings folder (named "fdchhkiadfdeghaiblgcooeljhehkpli"), uninstalled/reinstalled the extension, whereby all the previously saved notes were lost, then replaced the new Local Extension Settings files with the ones I'd copied and all the lost material reappeared. Problem solved! :up:

    Looks like the folder name is different for each user.

    Yes.I decided, since I am testing a beta, to keep it out of the default Opera folder. For me:C:UsersMyUserNameDownloadsBrowsersOpera15NotesExtensionBut the data is actually stored in:C:UsersMyUserNameAppDataRoamingOpera SoftwareOpera NextLocal Extension Settingskhnlecdflgmddiehedbnbodddambmnkp00032.logWill also depend on whether or not you are using the Opera Next or Opera Stable as they are installed in different folders.

  7. Already described here in the comments but no problem:Go to Extensions (Dev-Mode) and check the Extension-ID (It change with every installation(!) – so it is different for each user/installation!)This ID is found in %AppData%RoamingOpera SoftwareOpera Stable(or Next)Extensions(This is the Extension itself)and found in %AppData%RoamingOpera SoftwareOpera Stable(or Next)Local Extension Settings(This is the data folder)Originally posted by QuHno:

  8. Thanks for working on something that the developers may want to pretend is useless… but we all know how important it is…by the way, I'm not sure if someone else has written this before but apologies for any redundancies :1. is there a Shortcut to Copy/Paste the selected text instantly in the extension ? in Opera 12.x it was "Ctrl + Shift + C" but in the new Opera this shortcut opens the Developer Thingy (Dragonfly clone !)2. right clicking on the Trash should provide us with the "Empty Trash" option.3. the Extension lost functionality all of a sudden ! it's as if its window has somehow gone up where it was and now I can only see the lower part (where the note is shown).4. is there a way to ask the extension to populate the right part of the screen (wholly) while working with it ? I find the small window kind of limiting.Thanks again for your work.

    You can change the framesize by dragging with the button on the bottom/right.Setting will be saved.

  10. actually for me the setting wouldn't save after resizing the notes window…it returned back to it's default size each time.

  11. You are right! I had it so in remembrance and didn´t check it before writing… sorry. *awkward*:o But i found a solution. Go to directory: %AppData%RoamingOpera SoftwareOpera Stable(or Next)ExtensionsNotesID-FolderThere you find the file: popup.cssOpen with an editor an search for:

    textarea{
    min-height: 10.938em;

    there you can change the min-hight (e.g. 20em) & save – That´s all. 😉

    In my case, that file is in directory where I unzipped Hallvord extension, it's not installed like others are (eg. in extension directory)

    Ah – then you installed it by "Load unpacked extension".I packed the extension and used the .nex file for installation.I find it more accurate, because the extension is correctly added to the browser. (imho)

    I installed Opera, as @ USB installI do not have such a file: (

    If you have installed it regulary (by packing and dragging the .nex-file into Extension menu-screen) it is located in the Opera USB-folder:profiledataExtensionsExtensionID1.0_0If only "installed" by "load unpacked extension" it is still in the extension folder you are using. (unziped download file)

  16. Thanks 'Ice'…finally got it to where I liked it by using this layout…:)I added an additional width tweak also.textarea{ min-height: 16.938em;min-width: 24.938em;max-width: 100%;max-height: 100%;width:100%;height:100%;box-sizing: border-box;}thanks again.

  17. Awesome. Thank You. I just wonder if it's that simple why can't Opera guys include it. I don't want to go out and assemble a browser.
